We had an absolutely brilliant night at our concert with the SW Comms Band. In our first formal concert since Christmas 2019 it was amazing to play in front of a sell out crowd.

Flugel and Horn feature - Hey Jude (arr. Derek Broadbent)
The Golden Lady (Goff Richards)

The SW Comms Band took the second half and played:

Enter the Galaxies (Paul Lovatt-Cooper)
The Paragon - cornet soloist Megan Newbery (Edward Sutton)

Nightingale Dances (Matthew Hall)
Sunset Over the River Exe (Kenneth Downie)

September 2021

We have now played our last concert in the Banjo at Torquay which sadly brings an end to our Seafront Programme for 2021. Don't worry though as we still have our exciting Autumn concert with the SW Comms Band to look forward to, and will also be playing at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday and out and about around Torbay and Newton Abbot during the Christmas period.

September 2021

Further to the news of our September concerts, we are very excited to announce that we will be playing a joint concert with Devon's first ever Championship section band, the SW Comms Band, under the baton of their talented musical director Stephen Sykes on Saturday 16th October, 7:30pm at St Luke's Church, Milber.

September 2021

We are delighted to announce two Autumn concerts this September, outdoors in The Banjo, Princess Gardens, Torquay. We will be there on Sunday 19th and Sunday 26th September from 14:00 - 15:30. We look forward to seeing you there!

August 2021

Through July and August the band had tremendous fun playing in Golden Lion Square, Newton Abbot. With audiences increasing week by week we finished the season with a rousing concert to a large and appreciative audience of all ages who really helped to make the evening special. We would like to extend our thanks in particular to Sally Henley, Town Centre Manager, for all she has done to facilitate our concerts.

Sadly, our summer programme has now concluded and we will be returning to rehearsals on Wednesday 1st September at 19:3o in our bandroom. We hope to have news of additional concerts in the autumn to share with you soon. If you can't wait that long, enjoy the below video of the band playing 'Mamma Mia'.

August 2021

The band were saddened to learn of the passing of our former percussionist and Musical Director Bernard Baker. An exceptionally gifted musician, often seen playing multiple percussion parts at the same time, Bernard was involved with the band for a number of years  before relocating to the South East in 2012. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

July 2021

Over the Summer months the band will be out performing in Golden Lion Square, Newton Abbot. You can find us there from 7.30pm on the following evenings:
28th July
4th August
11th August
18th August
25th August

May 2021

Following the easing of government restrictions, on Wednesday 19th May the band were able to rehearse together for the first time since March 2020. In order to comply with current guidance we are rehearsing outside at the earlier time of 7pm and social distancing remains in place. If you are looking for a new band,  or to try something new please get in touch.

April 2021

The band was saddened to hear this week of the passing of our former percussionist Petros Petrou. We think of his family at this time and look forward to celebrating his life in a fitting manner as restrictions allow.
