Alan Wilmott

Alan learned to play cornet in The Salvation Army junior band at Castleford, West Yorkshire, from the age of 7. Moving to Devon in 1987 Alan has played with a number of bands throughout the county. His love of conducting started in 1990 when he started, from scratch, a junior band at The Salvation Army Corps in Paignton. Since then he has been Bandmaster (MD) of the Senior Corps band over the past 30 years and conducted the Totnes Band Training Band for several years before taking on the MD role with Totnes Band in 2013. A highlight of his conducting career was in qualifying for, and conducting the band at, The National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in 2015. Alan was appointed as MD of Bay Brass in September 2018.
